About Me
Jessie O’Dea Walker holds an M.F.A. in Creative Writing & Publishing Arts from the University of Baltimore and received her B.A. from the University of Richmond. Her work has appeared in Black Fork Review, Invisible Illness, Under Review, and other publications. She lives in Richmond, Virginia with her college sweetheart turned husband and is the proud mother of two feline fur babies.

Jessie O’Dea Walker is the unique product of a quirky, art-loving family and decades of Olympic-caliber swim training. Through this collection of essays, Walker studies who she was before and after her competitive swimming career all with one underlying question: who is she without it? With an honest voice equally humorous and heartbreaking, Walker wrestles with subjects of family, mental and physical health, as well as womanhood. While her quest may not end with the perfect answer, she leaves the reader with something bigger: acceptance.
